Mid-October. Maine, USA. Early morning at Christies Campground on Sebasticook Lake just outside of Newport. Cold outside already and winter feels close.
The lake is a mirror, its surface shining and completely smooth. Mists glide above the surface of the water as the sun, newly risen, paints the lake and the edges of the trees along the shoreline gold, dispelling the shadows of night. Leaves are changing colour and gleaming in the brilliant morning air.
This print is part of the Heron Road series – inspired by a year-long road trip along the back roads of North America.
