At Seaside, Oregon Coast, sand dollars lie tossed on the long sandy shoreline like leaves. Brought to the beach by the tide, they look like miniature flying saucers. Most of them are bleached white, the markings that make each one unique are washed out and faded.
On the one in this print, a fragment, the markings were still visible against the background surface. Markings resembling tree branches and reminiscent of fantasy landscapes.
