On a favourite trail climbing up through woodland, a shadowy movement through the trees made me turn my head. Almost hidden among the foliage, in silence, the raven sat perfectly still, watchful and wary as our two terriers explored below.
I paused, the raven and I acknowledged at each other, and I moved on, leaving him to keep vigil over his woodland court.
